Server Product Updates

Ensure that you are current on maintenance releases and using the most updated versions of SecureZIP® and PKZIP® for Windows®, UNIX®, and Windows server products. 

v12 Maintenance Release 5

This maintenance release is available for all users of PKZIP Server and SecureZIP Server v12.x.

Important
PKZIP/SecureZIP Customers updating from 8.x or earlier
If you are a PKZIP/SecureZIP customer updating from 8.x or earlier, you will need to obtain a new license key. Your current key will not work with this update. Customers on maintenance should contact PKWARE Customer Service to obtain a new key for this update.

Depending on the terms of your maintenance agreement, this upgrade may have an associated cost.

V12 Maintenance Release 4

This maintenance release is available for all users of PKZIP Server and SecureZIP Server v12.x.

PKZIP/SecureZIP Server v12.4 Enhancements:

  • 64-bit edition for use with 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7
  • Supports operation on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2
  • Korean LDAP support

Program Fixes:

  • 3971 Corrected a problem sending messages through some mail servers.
  • 4788 Improved ability to install on multiple releases of Solaris
  • 7211 Added ability to extract RAR files on UNIX
  • 7423 Corrected a problem where an empty ZIP file may be left after an encryption error occurs.
  • 7885 Corrected a condition where PKZIPC may report that it is "deflating" a file when it is actually storing it uncompressed.
  • 7912 Corrected a display problem with the progress indicator appearing when compressing streamed files.
  • 7986 Corrected problem where directory entries in LHA files were not recognized on UNIX
  • 7991 Corrected a display problem for FTP information appearing when using the -CONFIG option.
  • 7994 Improved Options commands in User Manual so users can cut and paste commands
  • 8006 Corrected a problem extracting files in the .Z archive format when files contain less than 3 bytes of information.
  • 8061 Improved error reporting for digital signatures that cannot be validated.
  • 8260 Added support for opening ZIP files having a .ZIPX file extension.
  • 8261 Added .ZIPX extension support for Server
  • 8477 Remove support for using PPMd compression on 64-bit versions of Windows.
  • 8542 Added PPMd support for Windows 64-bit systems
  • 8586 The -lowercase command used in extracting files from archives now has two sub-options.
    1. archive (default) - Indicates only the path information stored in the archive will be made lowercase.
    2. full - Indicates all of the extract path will be made lowercase, including the extract to path specified on the command line.
  • 8636 Corrected a problem with -dir=none and –path=none during extraction on Server

V12 Maintenance Release 3

This maintenance release is available for all users of PKZIP Server and SecureZIP Server v12.0 or v12.1. It provides the following product enhancements and fixes:

Enhancements:

  • New support for the PPMd data compression algorithm for .ZIP files
  • New support for the LZMA data compression algorithm for .ZIP files
  • Support for extracting multiple ZIP archives to individual folders
  • Extract files from .Z format compressed files
  • Added additional view information reporting starting disk number for split/spanned files
  • Support using parameter substitution with -log and -logerror options
  • Expanded -archivetype option to accept all supported archive types
  • New support for HP-UX Itanium removes need to run PKZIP/SecureZIP using Aries emulation

PKZIP and SecureZIP Fixes:

  • 3769 - Corrected a problem where a temp file may not be removed when a disk full condition occurs.
  • 3785 - Corrected a problem with a file not appearing in an archive after a disk full condition occurs.
  • 4645 - Added a message report when a ZIP file is already in use by another user.
  • 5745 - Corrected a error in Help information for the -span option.
  • 7127 - Corrected an unexpected program termination that may occur when
    viewing a ZIP file encrypted for more than 3000 recipients.
  • 7221 - Corrected a problem using the file rename feature when converting path separators.
  • 7227 - Corrected a problem where -directory and -path options where not being using when extracting a file from STDIN.
  • 7392 - Corrected an error in the User Manual for the -times option
  • 7507 - Corrected a problem where directories in an archive are not deleted using
    –delete.
  • 7565 - Corrected a problem where a dot '.' used in command line with the -delete
    option acts like a wildcard.
  • 7567 - Corrected operation of the -silent=fileheader option.
  • 7831 - Corrected a problem where streaming an input file larger than 4GB may
    result in a incorrect archive.
  • 7841 - Corrected a problem using the -logerror option on Windows systems that
    resulted in an unexpected program termination.
  • 7843 - Corrected a problem where PKZIP/SecureZIP may incorrectly report a
    CRC error when extracting a file from a GZIP archive.
  • 7963 - Corrected a problem processing data from a pipe when the file size is a multiple of the system _PC_PIPE_BUF value.

Maintenance Release 7

This maintenance release is available for all users of PKZIP Server and SecureZIP Server 8. It provides the following product enhancements and fixes:

SecureZIP

  • FIPS 140 support has been added which ensures that SecureZIP will use FIPS 140 validated cryptographic modules for creating secure archives
  • Added support for stronger hashing algorithms; SHA 256, SHA 384 and SHA 512

PKZIP

  • Added support for decrypting FIPS 140 based secure archives
  • Added support for decrypting stronger hashing algorithms; SHA 256, SHA 384 and SHA 512

PKZIP and SecureZIP Fixes:

  • 3276 - Corrected a problem with file names having trademark (TM) or copyright (c) symbols in the file name.
  • 3936 - Corrected a problem with embedded archive files in a ZIP file where interim archive file was deleted when extracting.
  • 4159 - Corrected a line wrapping problem when displaying machine information.
  • 4517 - Corrected display of permission and mask values when extracting files from a PKSFX Self-Extracting File.
  • 4778 - Corrected a problem where the program will not run on AIX 5.1 and reports an fd_select error.
  • 4815 - Improved processing on UNIX/Linux when using pipe files.
  • 5745 - Revised program Help documentation to correct size values identified for use with the -span option.
  • 5848 - Corrected a problem when re-installing the software which may result in an evaluation key being installed on a machine.
  • 5871 - Improved formatting of log reports.
  • 5947 - Resolved a problem where an additional prompt to enter a password may appear when encrypting using a contingency key.
  • 5948 - Corrected a problem with an abnormal program termination occurring when a corrupt policy file is used.
  • 6154 - Improved memory allocation processes.
  • 6217 - Corrected a problem when using the -optionchar command that prevented reading archives from stdin and writing archives to stdout.

The Command Line Only installation packages were designed for systems that do not have a GUI interface (i.e. CDE, X-Windows, etc.).

The Setup patch updates the packaged install script (setup.sh) to better integrate with new operating system releases.

Each update includes a README.TXT for additional installation instructions.
